Pope Francis is in hospital with a respiratory tract infection, his condition is satisfactory. This was reported on February 14 portal Vatican News with reference to the statement of the press service of the Holy See.

It is noted that in recent days the pontiff has worsened bronchitis. In the morning he was hospitalized in the clinic Agostino Gemelli for examination and treatment. Tests showed Francis had a respiratory tract infection.

"The Pope is calm and in good spirits," the portal quotes Matteo Bruni, director of the Vatican press office, as saying.

As it is specified, the Pope is currently experiencing a slight fever.

Last December, an excerpt from the pontiff's autobiography "Hope" was published. In it, the Pope told about the prevented in 2021, an assassination attempt on him in Iraq. Francis was to be blown up by a suicide bomber, but British intelligence uncovered preparations for the attack.
