The US program for international disaster and crisis relief can no longer be deployed in the event of a major emergency because the administration of United States President Donald Trump has disbanded the US Agency for International Disaster Assistance (USAID). This was reported by Reuters on February 14, citing sources.

"Some employees of the international aid program have been ordered to return to Washington, while others have lost access to their email and other systems," the publication noted.

Reuters also added that a rescue team in case of an emergency in another country can not even be formed, as USAID employees are currently unable to enter their office in Washington, from where all organizational decisions were made.

On February 3, American billionaire Ilon Musk announced the launch of the process to liquidate USAID. The businessman noted that the agency is not recoverable and should be closed. At the same time, Trump called the heads of the agency radical madmen.

Bloomberg reported on February 5 that Musk's team had gained access to the room where secret USAID documents are stored. In addition, more than 100 employees of the agency were sent on administrative leave. Later, on February 7, it became known that the court in the United States blocked Trump's decision to recall USAID employees from their posts and send them on leave until February 14.
