Court in Moscow arrests new assets of Sochi ex-mayor Kopaigorodsky's family

Meshchansky district court of Moscow has imposed an arrest on the property of the family of former Sochi mayor Alexei Kopaigorodsky and other affiliated persons, as well as extended the term on previously arrested assets. This is reported on February 14 in the Telegram-channel of the courts of general jurisdiction of the capital.

"Satisfied the petition of the investigator on the imposition of arrest and extension of the term of seizure of property <...> belonging to Alexei Sergeyevich Kopaigorodsky, relatives and other affiliated persons within the framework of the criminal case under investigation with the preservation of previously imposed by the court bans and restrictions," - stated in the publication.

The former mayor of Sochi was detained on September 25 last year in the special operation zone, the same day he was arrested. He is suspected of receiving a bribe of 43 million rubles from a businessman through his wife.

In early October, the property of the former mayor's relatives was arrested. The ex-mayor's wife Yanina was detained on November 12 and sent under house arrest the next day. The woman's credit accounts for 100 million rubles were arrested. Lawyer Ivan Mironov told Izvestia that Kopaigorodskaya is suspected of embezzlement together with her husband.

Later, on December 20, Kopaygorodsky's wife's lawyer Elizaveta Metkina told Izvestia that the court left her client under house arrest. In February, the court extended the detention of the former Sochi mayor until May 17.
