Cheboksary resident accused of killing her nine-year-old grandson sent for treatment

The Supreme Court of the Chuvash Republic sent a 61-year-old woman, who is accused of murdering her nine-year-old grandson, to compulsory treatment. This was reported on February 14 in the press service of the investigative department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia's Investigative Committee (IC) for the region.

"The Supreme Court of the Chuvash Republic issued a ruling on the application to her of compulsory measures of medical nature in the form of compulsory treatment in a medical organization providing psychiatric care in inpatient conditions of specialized type with intensive supervision", - stated in the Telegram-channel.

According to the conducted forensic psychiatric examination, at the time of the incident, the woman could not realize the actual nature and public danger of her actions due to a chronic mental disorder, which poses a threat to others.

In this regard, the defendant in the criminal case will be treated in a psychiatric hospital of specialized type with intensive supervision.

According to the investigation, on April 12, 2024, the woman strangled her grandson when she was with him in the apartment and tried to escape. Shortly thereafter, police officers detained her at her dacha. A criminal case was opened under paragraph "c" of part 2 of article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder of a minor known to the perpetrator to be in a helpless state"). Later, the woman guilty of killing the child was arrested.
