The winner of the Summer Paralympic Games in Tokyo in powerlifting Ukrainian Maryana Shevchuk has been disqualified for four years for violating anti-doping rules. This was reported on February 14 on the website of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

It is noted that the banned substance was detected in the sample of the athlete back in June 2024 during the World Cup Para-powerlifting competition in Tbilisi. Meldonium had been detected in the athlete's blood earlier, but she managed to prove the unintentional use of the substance.

It is indicated that 28-year-old Shevchuk is disqualified from July 30, 2024 to July 29, 2028. Also the results of the athlete from the date of the positive sample are canceled.

Before that, in December last year, the Ukrainian midfielder of Chelsea Mykhailo Mudryk failed a doping test. It is noted that the 23-year-old footballer passed the sample "A" back in October, which gave a positive result for the presence of a banned substance. He was threatened with disqualification for four years in case of failure of the second doping test.
