The state traffic police announced mass checks of drivers

On Friday and the next weekend, February 14-16, employees of the State Automobile Inspectorate will conduct mass and "solid" checks on the roads of the country, special attention will be paid to the search for drunk drivers. The raids were announced by regional departments of the State Automobile Inspectorate.
Thus, raids on drunk motorists will be held in St. Petersburg and Leningrad region, Kurgan region, Tver region, Kirov region, Ivanovo region, Tambov region, Kursk region, Orel region, Altai Republic and other regions of the country.
On the eve of the weekend, the State Automobile Inspectorate reminds motorists about the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. Continuous checks on the roads to identify drivers who sat behind the wheel in a drunken state are carried out at the weekend by traffic inspectors on a regular basis, noted in the department.
"We strongly ask citizens who saw that a person in a drunken state sits behind the wheel, behaves inadequately, creates dangerous situations on the road and thereby threatens the safety of other road users, to report these facts to the police. Employees of the State Automobile Inspectorate will certainly take all necessary measures to respond to such reports," Deputy Head of the Department of Propaganda of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Police Colonel Anton Belan, told Izvestia.
The State Automobile Inspectorate reminded that driving a car while intoxicated, as well as refusal of medical examination entails deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one and a half to two years and a large fine. In addition, in some cases for these acts the driver faces criminal liability.
Earlier in the day it was reported that fines for traffic violations account for almost a fifth of all debts of Russians. This was told by the Director of the Federal bailiff service (FSSP) Dmitry Aristov. Thus, by the volume of enforcement proceedings under enforcement, as of January 1, 2025, fines from the traffic police are in second place.
