Recruiters explained the motivation of Russians to work in retirement


In the labor market, more and more Russians are ready to continue working after retirement. 61% of respondents plan to remain active at retirement age. Of these, 35% intend to work full-time, 18% are considering part-time work, and 9% are thinking about their own business, Roman Gubanov, development director of Avito Rabota, told Izvestia on February 14.
"For the majority, the main motivator for continuing to work remains a stable income (54%), as well as the desire to be in demand (28%), to communicate with new people (21%) and to master technologies (19%)," the expert noted.
Companies are adapting hiring strategies to attract age-appropriate professionals. In 2024, the number of vacancies for them has increased, especially in customer service (+111%), transportation and logistics (+91%), and manufacturing (+80%). The average salary ranges from 41,118 rubles in service to 89,693 rubles in logistics.
"The modern market is becoming inclusive: employers value age employees for experience (35%), responsibility (28%) and stress resistance (23%). At the same time, the demand for young people is also growing: the number of vacancies for students increased by 163% in 2024," Gubanov emphasized.
According to his forecast, the trend for employment of pensioners will continue in 2025, and the labor market will continue to become more balanced.
According to the service "Work.ru", in 2024 the demand for pensioners increased by 14%. The largest increase in vacancies was shown by IT (2.8 times), internships (+55.8%) and the spheres of culture and education (+55.0%). In trade vacancies for pensioners increased by 49.7%, in marketing - by 47.5%, in finance - by 38.6%.
Companies value age applicants for their experience, discipline and willingness to work in narrow professional areas such as consulting and project management, said Alexander Veterkov, deputy general director of the service
"There is a unique situation in the labor market right now: the unemployment rate is the lowest in modern history. <...>. This means that the work will find representatives of all ages: both yesterday's graduates without experience, and retirees with a solid record," - said in SuperJob.
Earlier, on January 1, it became known that from the beginning of 2025 in Russia increased pensions. Head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs Yaroslav Nilov said that the indexed pension from the beginning of 2025 will receive about 9 million working pensioners in Russia.
December 28, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation Anton Kotyakov said that insurance pensions for working and non-working pensioners will be indexed by 7.3% from January 1, 2025, also in February they will be increased to the level of actual inflation. It was noted that additional indexation of pensions will affect about 37 million people.
