- Media has learned about London's reduced ability to support Kiev after Trump's arrival

The UK is losing opportunities to support Ukraine amid the change of administration in the USA and President Donald Trump's rise to power. This was reported by the newspaper Politico on February 13.
"Amid intense pressure over domestic spending and barely mended relations with Washington, London is now left with a limited set of options when it comes to demonstrating what 'ironclad' support for Ukraine really means," the piece stated.
According to the publication, the kingdom has long tried to "keep up" with the United States on the topic of the Ukrainian conflict, but now it faces the "unenviable task" of keeping Washington on its side, while the positions of the two countries are "increasingly diverging."
As experts point out, recent events have made the UK vulnerable. Difficulties for the kingdom are also evidenced by one of the recent statements of U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that defense spending at 2% of GDP is insufficient and should move to the 5% mark.
On February 7, United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said that despite the U.S.-NATO alliance, the alliance should spend more on defense.
Earlier, on January 21, Trump said that he would push North Atlantic Treaty Organisation member states to increase defense spending to 5% of GDP and spend more than Washington to support Ukraine.
