The factors that will contribute to the slowdown of inflation in Russia are gaining strength. This was announced by the head of the Central Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina on February 14.

"The factors that will contribute to the slowdown of inflation are gaining strength. First of all, the cooling of lending continues with the growth of savings activity of the population," she said after the meeting of the regulator's Board of Directors.

According to her, the already gained tightness of monetary and credit conditions (MCC) may be enough to slow down inflation in the coming months. However, in the case of insufficient rigidity, the Bank of Russia will be ready to return to the discussion of raising the key rate at the next meeting.

Nabiullina recalled that by the end of last year, the indicators of sustainable inflation exceeded 10%. She called this level "unacceptably high" for the country's central bank.
