The second defendant in the case of blowing up the car of a candidate for judges in Berdyansk detained

Another defendant in the case of blowing up the car of a judicial candidate in Berdyansk has been detained in Zaporizhzhya Region. About it on February 14 reported Telegram-channel of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia.

"In the course of the investigation of the criminal case initiated on the fact of blowing up a car in the city of Berdyansk on October 2, 2024, <...> the involvement of another defendant - a 35-year-old local resident was established. <...> With the assistance of employees of the FSSB of Russia in Zaporizhzhya region he was detained," - said in the statement of the department.

According to the investigation, two residents of Berdyansk received an assignment from Ukraine 's Main Intelligence Directorate (GID) to carry out a terrorist attack against a local candidate for the post of judge. Ukrainian intelligence promised the men a reward of $10,000 and also gave them explosives.

The accused independently made an explosive device and planted it under the victim's car. As a result of the terrorist attack, the car was damaged, and there was no one in the cabin at the time.

Later, the criminals hid the unused explosives in a cache in order to later use them in new terrorist attacks in the region. The contents of the cache were seized by the investigating authorities.

"As part of the investigation of the criminal case, investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia will establish the involvement of other defendants in the commission of crimes," - added in the IC.

The arrest of the first defendant in the case of the car bombing was reported on November 7, 2024. Before Zaporizhzhya region became part of Russia, he served in the Ukrainian Prosecutor's office.

On February 7, four female agents who worked for the Ukrainian security services were detained in Sevastopol, Voronezh and Rostov-on-Don. According to the agency, they were recruited to carry out terrorist acts against high-ranking officers of the Defense Ministry and at facilities of the fuel and energy complex.
