Meshchansky court of Moscow has extended the arrest of U.S. citizen Joseph Tater in the case of attacking a policeman in a Moscow hotel. This was reported on February 14 on the website of the courts of general jurisdiction of Moscow.

"The court ruling extended the period of detention in respect of Tater for a period of 1 month," - indicated in the court.

In addition, the court refused to change the measure of restraint to house arrest.

Tater staged a debauch when checking into a hotel in Meshchansky district after he was denied registration due to the lack of a migration card. Representatives of the hotel called the police, after the arrival of law enforcers, the American hit one of them.

Two days later he was arrested for 15 days, a criminal case was opened against the US citizen under Part 1 Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Use of violence against a representative of the authorities)". Since then, his detention has been repeatedly extended.

On September 26, Tater's lawyer said that he had come to Russia for political asylum. According to him, his life is under threat, so he wants to stay in Russia. It was specified that for 18 years the American has been arrested by the CIA on false charges. In addition, the Izvestiya source reported that Tater stated in court that he did not consider himself a US citizen.
