- About 40 thousand illegal communication lines were found in St. Petersburg and Leningrad Region

In St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region during the year 2024, more than 40 thousand transmission towers were found on which unauthorized communication lines were placed. Such data was reported to TASS by the press service of PJSC Rosseti Lenenergo.
Specialists believe that such violations pose a threat to the stable operation of power facilities. Interruptions in power supply are possible, and the process of restoration of power lines will be noticeably complicated and delayed. In addition, the work is often performed by unqualified specialists, which can lead to serious injuries or fatalities, TV channel "78" notes.
According to Denis Konkov, Deputy General Director for Digital Transformation and Additional Services of Rosseti Lenenergo, the company is ready to promptly consider the telecom operator's application for access to its infrastructure, to agree on the terms and conditions of installation.
Mr. Konkov noted that recent data shows that more and more operators are ready to work in the legal field. Thus, in 2023, 128 applications for accommodation were registered, and in 2024 - already 209.
At the end of January it was reported that theft of electricity in Russia by "gray" miners reached the amount of 10 billion a year. Only in the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District for 2024, the official damage of "Russian Grids" amounted to 424 million rubles. From January 1, 2025, the Cabinet of Ministers banned cryptocurrency mining in more than ten regions until 2031.
