Murmansk authorities reported 90% readiness of the new port "Lavna"


A new coal transshipment complex "Lavna" is 90% complete on the western shore of the Kola Bay in the Murmansk Region. This was announced by Tatyana Lyashchuk, First Deputy Minister of Arctic Development and Economy of the region.
According to her words, which are quoted by IA "Bi-Port", the construction project of the Murmansk transportation hub is in a high degree of readiness, the construction of the terminal is being completed. The volume of investments in the creation of "Lavna" is 78.5 billion rubles.
In December 2024, the readiness of the railroad tracks to the seaport of Lavna was estimated at 80%. Governor Andrei Chibis said at the end of the year that there are no risks for the port of Lavna due to the difficult period in the coal industry. A little earlier, in November, Rosmorrechflot head Andrei Tarasenko announced that the port would begin operations by the end of the year.
Construction of the Lavna port on the opposite shore of the Kola Bay from Murmansk began in 2021. Its main activity will be coal transshipment: the production capacity of the coal terminal will be 18 million tons of coal per year. It is planned to put the port into operation by the end of 2024.
