Two sisters have returned from Ukraine to Russia with the mediation of Qatar and the assistance of the office of the children's rights ombudsman. This was announced on Friday, February 14, by Maria Lvova-Belova, Presidential Ombudsperson for Children's Rights.

"In the process of reunification serious assistance was provided by the state of Qatar - interaction with the Ukrainian side, transportation and other expenses, escorting children and their relatives. Helped in this work the International Committee of the Red Cross, representatives of specialized agencies," she wrote in her Telegram-channel.

Lvova-Belova said that the girls lived on Ukrainian territory with their grandparents, while their mother worked in Russia and regularly visited them. However, after the start of the special military operation (SMO), the woman could not return to Ukraine for the children.

As of today, 17 children from 11 families have been reunited with their relatives in Russia and 95 children from 75 families have returned to their relatives in Ukraine and other countries, Lvova-Belova concluded.

On February 13, the ombudsman's press service said that eight more children would be reunited with their relatives in Ukraine with Lvova-Belova's assistance and Qatar's mediation. It was specified that most of the children lived with their grandmothers and now they are going to their parents.
