Traffic police fines became the second most common debt of Russians

Fines for traffic violations account for almost a fifth of all debts of Russians. This was reported by the Director of the Federal Bailiff Service (FSSP) Dmitry Aristov, reports "Interfax" on February 14.

Thus, by the volume of enforcement proceedings under enforcement, as of January 1, 2025, fines from the traffic police are in second place with a share of 18.1% (10 million enforcement proceedings).

"In 2024, the number of persistent non-payers of traffic police administrative fines with 10 or more unpaid fines amounted to almost 565,000 people," Aristov said.

The largest share among those who were on compulsory execution are enforcement proceedings on debt collection in favor of credit organizations (15 million cases; 27.8% of the total number). The third place is shared by debtors for taxes and housing and communal services (7 million cases; 12.6%).

February 11, it was reported that at the end of 2024 in Russia slowed down the growth in the number of fines for traffic violations, issued with the help of stationary complexes of photo-video fixation. It amounted to 7.2%. A total of 237 million rulings were issued during the year. In 2019-2023, the dynamics was higher and ranged from 10 to 20%.
