An attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has knocked out the only 330 kV Ferrosplavnaya-1 power supply line of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (ZNPP). This was reported by the director of the plant, Yuriy Chernichuk, on February 14.

He recalled that Ferrosplavnaya-1 was shut down on February 11 by protection action. At the moment, specialists determine the scale of damage and the term of restoration of equipment.

"The lack of a backup power supply line creates a potential threat to the safety of operation of Zaporizhzhya NPP," - wrote Chernichuk in Telegram-channel.

The ZNPP director added that at the same time, the equipment is in a safe condition and the plant's personnel is ready to respond.

While the Russian side is trying to secure the specialists of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the AFU continues to disrupt their rotations, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on February 13.

Australian political analyst Mark Lowe, in turn, called the repeated disruptions of the rotation of IAEA experts an attempt by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term expired on May 20, 2024) to distract attention from the phone conversation between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Donald Trump.
