There were 222 road accidents in Russia over the past day

Over the past day, 222 traffic accidents were recorded on Russian roads, in which 27 people were killed and 282 injured. 24 of the dead were drivers and passengers. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Friday, February 14, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 72 accidents involving pedestrians, three people died, another 72 were injured of varying severity. Among the victims are 11 child pedestrians, nine of whom were injured at crosswalks. Of the total number of accidents with pedestrians, 45 occurred at crosswalks and 27 outside their zone of action. With the participation of minors 20 accidents were registered, in which 22 young road users were injured, including 11 passengers. There were no children killed.

On Thursday, 20 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which five people were killed, another 21 road users, including two children, required medical assistance. The cause of 10 accidents with buses were violations of traffic rules committed by drivers of other vehicles.

Thus, in the Republic of Dagestan in the daytime at 413 km of the federal highway R-215 "Astrakhan - Makhachkala" a woman driver of a passenger car drove into the oncoming lane, where she collided with an intercity bus carrying 15 passengers. As a result of the accident both drivers and two passengers of the passenger car were killed. A six-month-old boy, who was in the back seat of the car of the perpetrator of the accident without a child restraint device and seat belt, as well as nine passengers of the bus, including a seven-year-old girl, were injured and hospitalized.

On the eve of the weekend, the traffic police urged drivers and pedestrians to strictly observe traffic rules in difficult weather conditions, which are observed in most of the European territory of the country, the Far East, in the Volga region and the Urals. Increased precipitation in the form of snow, snowstorms and gusty winds increase the risk of accidents on the roads due to the formation of ice and snow accumulation. This limits traction, so you should be extremely careful when driving, especially in the dark. Reducing speed, increasing distance, avoiding sharp maneuvers and dangerous overtaking will help to avoid accidents. In order not to interfere with the timely cleaning of streets, it is not recommended to park along the roads. Also in the agency urged not to obstruct the movement of snow removal equipment.

We recommend to equip the clothes of child pedestrians with light-reflecting elements to make them more visible to drivers in the dark or dusk. He added that the lack of control over the behavior and leisure of children, especially on weekends, often leads to injury or death of young road users. It is necessary to strictly control the observance of safety rules when rolling children from snow slides in the courtyard areas of residential areas, as well as to refuse to use slides located near the roadway to prevent the departure of children's sleds, tubs, "watrushki", "ices" and snowcats under the wheels of cars or snow removal equipment.
