Meteorologists forecast unusually warm spring in Russia

The coming spring will be unusually warm. The strongest deviation from the usual weather will be noticeable in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh and Samara, while the blooming of plants and seasonal allergies will begin earlier than usual. This follows from the data of meteorologists of the service "Yandex Weather", which were read by "Izvestia" on February 14.
"In spring, the deep transport of heated Atlantic air masses will continue. Exceeding the climatic norm (more than one degree) will affect both the European territory of Russia and the Urals, Western and Eastern Siberia, the Far East. The average positive deviation from the spring norm in all cities-million cities of the country will reach 1.4. The greatest excess (from two to three degrees) will again affect the Arctic zone: first of all, the Yamal Peninsula and the archipelago of Novaya Zemlya", - experts noted.
Unusually warm March is forecasted in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh, Perm and regional capitals of Central Russia (Tver, Smolensk, Tula, Bryansk, Orel, Kursk, Lipetsk, Ryazan and Belgorod). However, April will be especially warm in the Southern, Siberian and partly Volga Federal Districts. For example, it will be noticeable in Volgograd, Rostov-on-Don, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk, Ufa, Kazan and Samara.
Meteorologists specified that in the capital and Moscow region the spring excess of thermal norm will be one of the highest in the country - up to 1.7 degrees, and in March it will reach 2.1. In addition, among megacities, the strongest seasonal deviations are expected in St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh and Samara - from 1.5 to 1.8 degrees.
At the same time, experts predict more rain in the European part of Russia this spring. According to their information, in Moscow in March will fall three times more rain than last year (up to 40 mm), and in May - twice as much (up to 60 mm). In Rostov-on-Don may fall almost five times more precipitation than in 2024 (up to 145 mm), in Voronezh and Volgograd - three times more, in Krasnodar - twice as much. In Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Kemerovo, Barnaul, Blagoveshchensk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and Anadyr, on the contrary, slightly drier conditions are likely than a year earlier.
In connection with such weather conditions forecasters have calculated when car owners in Russia should get ready to change tires. The residents of Krasnodar will be able to re-wire their cars first of all (in the middle of March). Closer to the end of March this issue will be relevant for Rostov-on-Don, at the turn of March and April - for Volgograd and Voronezh, in early April - for Samara. In mid-April, drivers of Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Ufa and Chelyabinsk will need to re-wire their cars, near the end of April - St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Omsk and Novosibirsk, at the turn of April and May - Krasnoyarsk and Perm.
Earlier, on January 31, the head of the forecasting center "Meteo" Alexander Shuvalov in the press center of the IIC "Izvestia" said that the warm weather in winter in Russia is associated with the changed location of the high-altitude frontal zone. The expert noted that for the first time in the entire period of meteorological observations, cities such as Kursk, Orel, Bryansk recorded an average monthly temperature above zero.
