US President Donald Trump, during a phone call to Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy, whose term of office expires in May 2024, said that his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin was eager to make a deal to settle the conflict. This was reported by Axios on February 14, citing sources.

Also in the conversation, the American leader asked whether Zelensky remains interested in signing the agreement, to which the Ukrainian president confirmed the desire to make a deal.

"And asked whether Zelensky is still determined to conclude it. Zelensky replied that he still wants to make a deal," - stated in the material.

In addition, Trump told Zelensky that he understands his concerns about the conversation with the Russian President, but emphasized that it is impossible to do without these measures if he wants diplomatic efforts to end the conflict to be successful.

Putin held a phone conversation with Trump on February 12. Later that day, the American leader spoke with Zelensky. The Russian president pointed to the need to address the root causes of the crisis and agreed with Trump that a long-term solution could be achieved through peace talks. In turn, the American president called the conversations with Russia and Ukraine excellent.
