Some species of owls in Moscow have already had chicks


Some species of owls, which live in natural areas of Moscow, have already hatched their first chicks. This was reported on February 14 by the portal of the mayor of the capital Sergey Sobyanin.
The first nests and already born chicks were recorded by specialists of the Moscow Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection. It is noted that usually owl chicks hatch in March-April.
The Department specified that owls need peace and quiet in the mating and brood period.
"Citizens should not come too close to the nests, touch the birds or their chicks. This may provoke aggressive behavior of adults or force them to leave their favorite place", - said the head of the Department of protection and monitoring of fauna objects of the agency Sergey Burmistrov.
He urged Russians to avoid sudden movements and loud noises when meeting owls in forest parks, as well as not to approach the birds closely.
On Monday, February 10, mos/ru reported that the ecocenters of the capital's Department of Nature Management and Environmental Protection summarized the results of the average winter count of waterfowl and waterfowl birds. Thus, 1.1 thousand birds were counted in selective places.
