Two residents of the Angara region were detained for attempting to set fire to military equipment on the territory of a military unit in Angarsk. This was reported in the Department of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia in the Irkutsk region on February 14.

In January, residents of Angarsk made an attempt to set fire to special military equipment by throwing glass bottles with flammable liquid on the territory of the unit. They also conducted reconnaissance of military facilities for the purpose of further arson.

The servicemen and military equipment were not harmed, the agency pointed out.

In the course of interrogations, evidence was obtained of the involvement of the detainees by the Ukrainian special services in criminal activities for the payment of a cash reward of about 30 thousand rubles.

The investigation opened a criminal case under the article "Terrorist act committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy".

In December 2024, the Interior Ministry urged not to give in to provocations with calls to commit a crime. There have been increasing cases of deliberate arson and bombing of administrative buildings, police cars, and military facilities in a number of regions. Attackers lure people into crimes through anonymous handlers promising money for the crimes.
