Finland criticized Callas after words about Ukraine deal

The only workable agreement on the Ukrainian conflict will be the one concluded behind the back of the European Union (EU). Tuomas Malinen, a professor at Helsinki University, said on February 13.

"The only deal that works is the one that will be made behind your back, because you are pushing the conflict," he wrote on social network X (former Twitter), commenting on the statement by EU diplomacy chief Kai Kallas.

Head of Eurodiplomacy Kallas said in an interview with the Corriere della Sera newspaper on February 11 that agreements on Ukraine could not be reached without Europe's participation. According to her, the Ukrainian conflict concerns Europe as well. She also said that she did not see a single agreement in which the EU was not involved.
