UNRWA called Trump's plan to resettle Gaza residents unacceptable

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) considers American President Donald Trump's plan to resettle Palestinians from the Gaza Strip unacceptable. The organization's spokeswoman Juliette Touma said on February 14.
"The UN position is very clear. Accepting forced displacement is unacceptable," she said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
Tuma also drew attention to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. According to her, the sector will need the help of the international community to rebuild its infrastructure.
"Reconstruction can be done, plans can be set up to restart the economy, plans to rebuild what was destroyed. The international community needs to make a serious effort to help the people of the Gaza Strip rebuild their lives," the UNRWA spokeswoman elaborated.
In late January, Trump announced the possibility of resettling refugees from the Gaza Strip in Egypt and Jordan. According to him, the proposal involves the potential relocation of up to 1.5 million people. He emphasized, in this way the residents would be guaranteed security. Later, on February 5, during a press conference, he announced Washington's plans to take control of Gaza.
