A man who was kayaking in the Strait of Magellan was swallowed by a humpback whale, which immediately spit him out. This was reported on February 13 by the Spanish newspaper El Pais with reference to the victim.

The publication noted that the incident occurred on February 8 in the bay of El Aguila off the coast of the city of Punta Arenas in southern Chile. 49-year-old Dell Simancas was kayaking with his 24-year-old son Adrian Simancas. He managed to film the moment the whale attacked his son, who disappeared from view. A few seconds later, it was seen how the young man reappeared on the surface without any visible injuries.

"When I was inside, I remembered Pinocchio, who was also swallowed by a whale," Adrian Simancas told the newspaper.

According to the man, he first felt a strong blow on his back that knocked him out of his inflatable kayak. He then had no time to realize what had happened before he was violently thrown to the surface.

In July 2024, a whale capsized a fishing boat with the crew on it in Portsmouth Harbor, New Hampshire. Two crew members fell into the water during the incident. One of them managed to swim to the surface before the boat finally capsized. The other jumped off the vessel at the moment of impact. The men were rescued.
