Trump says plans to boost US military sales by supplying F-35s to India

US President Donald Trump in a press conference after meeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the US is going to increase military sales by billions of dollars with the supply of F-35 fighter jets to India.
"The US will increase India's military sales by many billions of dollars. <...> The U.S. is paving the way to supply India with F35 stealth fighter jets," Reuters quoted him as saying.
Trump noted that this possibility is due to the fact that Modi announced the reduction of duties that restricted American access to the Indian market. In addition, the US president added that the countries are going to work together to create a trade route that will connect the states and their partners.
"We have agreed to work together to help build one of the greatest trade routes in history. It will go from India to Venezuela, Italy and all the way to the United States, connecting our partners with ports, railroads and undersea cables," Trump elaborated.
During the press conference, the Indian Prime Minister, for his part, noted that India will open consulates general in Boston and Los Angeles in the near future.
"To further deepen ties between our peoples, India will soon open new consulates in Los Angeles and Boston," Modi said.
He said New Delhi is also inviting American universities to open their representative offices in India.
During his meeting with Modi, the US president also said Washington is committed to becoming India's leading supplier of oil and gas. He added that he had agreed with the Indian Prime Minister that the nations would engage in joint mining and processing of critical minerals.
