Russian and Finnish border services continue dialog on border security issues

Interaction with Finland on the topic of security at the border continues along the lines of the border services. This was stated to "Izvestia" in the Russian Embassy in Helsinki.
"Interaction with Finland on border security issues continues along the lines of the border services of our countries. Any other contacts on the functioning of the border, including the issue of possible opening of checkpoints, are not carried out between our countries today," the diplomatic mission said.
The decision of the Finnish government to close the border was unilateral and purely politicized, the diplomats noted.
"So the ball is on the Finnish side," the embassy pointed out.
On October 24, 2024, the Finnish Border Guard announced the complete closure of two checkpoints on the border with Russia. The checkpoints "Parikkala" and "Inari" completely stopped their work.
