Russian skier Bolshunov won the race in Italy


Three-time Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov won the Sudtirol Moonlight Classic race in Italy at a distance of 30 km in classic style. It became known on February 13.
The Russian overcame the distance in 1 hour 18 minutes 56.2 seconds. Second place went to Italian Lorenzo Buzin, 14.4 seconds behind the winner, and third place went to Italian Mattia Armellini (+1.25.2).
Thanks to his victory, Bolshunov earned two thousand euros in prize money.
The skier was originally entered for the race, which was held under the Russian flag, but before the start the Russian flag and nationality were removed from the protocols. Bolshunov was competing under the auspices of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS).
Alexander Bolshunov is 28 years old. He is a three-time Olympic champion, four-time silver and two-time bronze medalist at the Olympics. He has been world champion once, world silver medalist six times and bronze medalist once.
Russian athletes have been suspended by the FIS from competing on the world stage since March 2022. Later, FIS head Johan Eliasch said that the Russians and Belarusians should be allowed to participate in international competitions as neutral athletes. At the same time, FIS announced the transfer of all competitions from the territory of Russia.
