- Trump says there is a place for Ukraine at the negotiating table with Russian Federation

Ukraine will also have a place at the table during negotiations with Russia. This statement was made by American President Donald Trump on February 13 during a conversation with journalists at the White House.
"They are part of it. We will have Ukraine [at the talks], we will have Russia, and other parties will be involved as well. A lot of people are in this game," Trump replied to a question about whether the Kiev side will have a seat at the negotiating table to resolve the conflict.
In addition, the US president stressed that it was more correct to call Russian leader Vladimir Putin first, rather than the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky (whose term of office expired on May 20, 2024).
"I don't think so. I should have realized whether Russia wanted to make a deal. I knew Zelensky wanted to," Trump said when asked if he should have called Kiev first.
Putin held a phone conversation with Trump on Feb. 12. Later that day, the American leader also spoke with Zelensky. The Russian president pointed to the need to address the root causes of the crisis and agreed with Trump that a long-term solution could be achieved through peace talks. In turn, the American president called the conversations with Russia and Ukraine excellent.
