- Trump says he wants to offer China and Russian Federation to cut defense budgets by 50%

U.S. President Donald Trump said he wanted to hold a conference with Russia and China to propose to reduce defense budgets by 50%. This was reported by Bloomberg agency on February 13.
"I want to tell Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin: Let's cut the defense budget in half," Trump said.
He also said he wants to talk to Russia and China about reducing nuclear arsenals.
"I'd like to have a conference, once things get settled, with China and Russia first, because those are the two countries that are really important. We're going to get them to spend a lot less. They agreed to that. We talked about denuclearization and we agreed with President Putin that we would achieve that. We don't need to build new nuclear weapons, we already have plenty," Trump added.
Earlier, on January 23, Trump said at the World Economic Forum in Davos that the US wants to reduce nuclear weapons together with Russia and China. The head of the White House emphasized that in the past he had discussed with Russian President Vladimir Putin the reduction of nuclear arsenals of the two countries. The American leader noted that Washington is ready to consider nuclear disarmament only if Moscow and Beijing also decide to eliminate it. He added that the US side sees positive prospects for reaching such an agreement.
