Case opened against man after attack on women in Podolsk temple


A case has been opened against a man suspected of attacking two women in a church in Podolsk, Moscow Region. This was reported on February 13 by the Main Investigative Directorate (GSU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation in the Moscow region.
"A criminal case has been instituted against a 35-year-old resident of the Sverdlovsk region. He is suspected of violating the right to freedom of conscience and religion, with the use of violence (part 4 of article 148 of the Criminal code of the Russian Federation)", - stated in the message of the department in Telegram-channel.
It specified that at the moment witnesses are being interrogated. It is also planned to conduct investigative actions with the participation of the suspect.
Theincident became known earlier in the day. The intruder, according to preliminary information, with a plastic pipe several times hit two servants of the temple. After that, he broke the glass on the icon, tore posters, and stole money from the box with donations. Then he fled, but law enforcement officers found him on hot tracks and detained him.
