Pentagon chief suggests topics for Ukraine talks

The volume of financial aid to Kiev may become a topic of negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth has said at a press conference in Brussels on 13 February. This was stated by Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth at a press conference in Brussels on February 13.
"I think it's fair to say that such issues as future funding, both in smaller and larger amounts, can be the subject of negotiations," The Star newspaper quoted him as saying.
Hegseth also said that no concessions from Russia are required to start negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, neither Moscow nor Kiev will get "everything they want" as a result of the settlement talks, Gazeta.Ru reported.
Earlier, on February 12, the head of the Pentagon called the return of Ukraine to the 2014 borders an unrealistic task. He also added that Washington does not consider Kiev's accession to NATO a realistic outcome of the peace process.
Before that, on 10 February, US leader Donald Trump said that Washington would not help Kiev free of charge; as a response to the assistance, the USA expects to get access to Ukraine's rare-earth metals.
