The U.S. Senate supported the nomination of politician Robert Kennedy Jr. to the post of Secretary of Health of the country. The vote on this issue was held on February 13.

In favor of the candidate voted 52 senators out of 100, all belonging to the Republican Party. Against the appointment of Kennedy Jr. opposed the entire faction of the Democratic Party and Republican Mitch McConnell.

Earlier, on February 3, ABC News reported that Democratic senators demanded that the politician recuse himself from making any decisions related to vaccines as a condition for his nomination to be approved.

During a Jan. 29 hearing, senators criticized the politician for his many false statements about vaccinations. According to Congressman Ron Wyden, Kennedy Jr. has made it his life's work to sow doubt and discourage parents from vaccinating their children.

On the same day, the daughter of the 35th President of the United States John F. Kennedy, former U.S. Ambassador to Japan and Australia Caroline Kennedy wrote an open letter in which she criticized her cousin and urged not to let him become the head of the Ministry of Health. She emphasized that Kennedy Jr. discouraged many parents from vaccinating their children, while he himself continues to vaccinate his own.
