The number of people wanted by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) missing in connection with the conflict in Ukraine has increased to 50,000, the head of the ICRC's Central Tracing Agency Bureau dealing with the situation in Ukraine, Dušan Vujašaninin, said on February 13.

"Since February 2024, the number of open cases of missing persons - people who are wanted by their families - has more than doubled, reaching almost 50,000 to date, and unfortunately this number continues to grow," he told RIA Novosti.

According to him, the number of requests per month has increased to about 5,000 since last year.

Last November, a rally of relatives and wives of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) soldiers who went missing was held in Kiev. According to the citizens, they had to take part in the rally to "make themselves and their relatives known so that the authorities could do something to find them and bring them home. The protesters believe that the Kiev authorities are currently the enemies of Ukraine.
