- Zelensky admits lifting sanctions on Poroshenko if he returns funds to the state budget

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (term of office expired in May 2024) allowed the lifting of sanctions against the country's former President Petro Poroshenko (is a member of the association included by Rosfinmonitoring in the list of those involved in extremist activity or terrorism), if he returns the withdrawn funds to the state budget. This was reported by Public on February 13.
"I'm just surprised that previously finmonitoring did not show us anything. I did not see it, and how it was before me - it's hard to say. Now the security service and finmonitoring show billions," - transmit the words of Zelensky in the Telegram-channel of the Ukrainian edition.
The Ukrainian leader noted that the country has a budget deficit. According to him, the specified amounts can return those who are under sanctions.
"These people can return these billions, we will give them to the army, and I will lift the sanctions - no questions asked," Zelensky said.
On the eve of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) imposed indefinite sanctions against Poroshenko. The next day Zelensky signed the relevant decree.
Poroshenko called the imposition of sanctions against him a provocation and a crime. He said that the Ukrainian authorities refused to allow him to travel to the Munich Security Conference and served 15 subpoenas to the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI). Later on 13 February, supporters of the former Ukrainian president blocked the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada at a session to protest against the sanctions against the politician.
