This week, Yura Borisov is wandering around noisy movie theaters in the guise of Alexander Pushkin. The musical biopic "The Prophet" about the life of the main Russian poet is also the first movie whose poster says "Oscar nominee" at the name of the lead singer. While Julia Peresild gets out of abusive relationships with neurosets in the film "ON and She", the protagonist of one of the Cannes hits "Grand Tour" escapes from under the crown in search of peace and tranquility. Also in the rental of a new anime "Your Color" from the author of "The Shape of the Voice" and the return of the Kazakh crime drama "Racketeer". "Izvestia" - about what to watch in the movies in the coming weekend.

"Prophet. The Story of Alexander Pushkin" 12+

Directed by: Felix Umarov

Starring: Yura Borisov, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Sergei Gilev, Anya Chipovskaya, Evgeny Shvarts, Roman Vasiliev, Alena Dolgolenko, Ilya Vinogorsky, Ilya Lyubimov.

The main event of the week and this winter as a whole - the release in cinemas ambitious biopic about "our everything" Alexander Pushkin with Yura Borisov, a superstar and everyone's favorite. It seemed, well, what else don't we know about Pushkin? A layer of mothballs from the famous portrait of the poet by Kiprensky, the creators of "Prophet" erase music - the movie has eight multi-genre numbers, and Pushkin-Borisov himself even raps on the ode "Voluntariness". We wrote about it in a report from the filming.

Felix Umarov was responsible for the hooligan motifs of the film, for the 30-year-old director (and when he started work, he was 26!) high-budget full-meter with a high degree of expectation - the first major picture. According to Umarov, what he wanted most of all was to show Pushkin as a living person, not as the genius we've been used to since the school program. Whether Borisov got Pushkin, clear and simple, you can read in a detailed review of "Izvestia".

"Your Color" 12+

Director: Naoko Yamada

Japanese director Naoko Yamada's track record includes the popular anime series K-On!, "Tamako's Little Shop," as well as the full-lengths "Violet Evergarden," "Liz and the Bluebird" and, of course, "The Shape of a Voice," which brought her the most popularity. Her new anime "Your Color," like "Shape of Voice," is about growing up, accepting and analyzing teenage identity. It's also one of the rare anime novelties at the Russian box office.

Totsuko, a dreamy and modest high school student, has a unique ability: she sees the colors of emotions of people around her, except her own. The world around Totsuko is filled with shades of happiness, delight and peace. But among all the colors one seems to her special, it is deep blue, the color of emotions of her classmate Kimi. The girls decide to form a musical group, which is joined by their friend Rui. According to the director, she sought to convey to the viewer a sense of calm, kindness and happiness - these motifs formed the basis of the color palette of the film and the characters.

"Grand Tour" 18+

Directed by: Miguel Gomes

Starring: Gonçalo Waddington, Cristina Alfayate, Claudio da Silva, Jorge Andrade

For this work, Portuguese director Miguel Gomes took home the Best Director prize at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. Gomes is known for his experimental approaches in auteur cinema. "Grand Tour," more akin to video art, is no exception. It is an elegant yet eccentric picture, requiring a little more time than usual to fully immerse yourself in it.

The story, which Gomes co-wrote with Telmo Churro and a trio of other Portuguese screenwriters, could have been an adaptation of one of Somerset Maugham's novels, but it's actually an original screenplay. A British civil servant suddenly dumps his fiancée on their wedding day. Instead of exchanging rings, he goes on a trip alone, indulging in melancholy and thinking about the meaning of life. True, the bride of the main character is sure that he still loves her, so she resolutely rushes to find him.

"ON and She" 16+

Directed by: Evgeny Korchagin

Starring: Julia Peresild, Alexei Shirochkin, Igor Chernyavy, Jane Mirro, Kirill Zaitsev, Nikita Tarasov, Vladimir Steklov

It turns out that entering into co-dependent and abusive relationships is possible even with artificial intelligence. Ksenia, played by Yulia Peresild, is a talented developer of neural networks, whose innovative project does not find support from the conservative leadership. The girl is sent on a forced vacation. Thailand, a luxurious villa - what is not an ideal place to heal career wounds? In addition, the smart house is managed by an artificial intelligence Marcus, with whom Xenia, it would seem, on "you".

The movie directed by Evgeny Korchagin starts out as a melodrama, but quickly turns into a sci-fi thriller when the AI tries to build a romantic relationship with the main character. Marcus quickly oversteps his bounds by keeping Xenia imprisoned, tortured, and generating her happy vacation video reports for her loved ones. Spike Jonze's movie "She", parallels to which are traced in the title of the Russian tape, such a thing was never dreamed of.

"Racketeer. New Times" 18+

Directed by: Akan Satayev

Starring: Sayat Isembayev, Asel Sagatova, Asylkhan Tolepov, Raunan Akhmedov, Andrei Merzlikin.

Continuation of the cult Kazakhstani crime drama Akan Satayev about a young boxer from Alma-Ata, who in the 1990s on the path of a bandit. Having served time for the murder of his sworn enemy, Sayan Bekkarimov is released from prison. However, businessman Alybai, the son of the murdered man, who gave his word to avenge Sayan for his father's death, is waiting for him on the outside.

The picture comes out 17 years after the premiere of the first part and 10 years after the release of the sequel. Director Akan Sataev is sure that fans of "Racketeer" are interested to know how the characters have changed in the conditions of the new time. The main character is still played by Sayat Isembayev, the role of Sayan Bekkarimov made him a real star in Kazakhstan. In addition, one of the roles in the sequel "Racketeer" played by Andrei Merzlikin, who previously starred in Sataev's thriller "Lost", nominated from Kazakhstan in 2009 for the "Oscar".
