At the moment, Russian citizen Alexander Vinnik, released in the United States, may be in the transit zone, all his movements and routes are classified. This was reported to "Izvestia" by the lawyer of the Russian citizen Arkady Bukh on February 13.

He admitted that at present there may be a so-called internal transit. According to him, Vinnik may be transferred from one organization to another - be it the migration service, transport agents or the Office of Federal Marshals.

"Detainees can be transported either by land or air, including on special flights known as Con Air. The movements and routes are classified, with no information disclosed to relatives, attorneys or sometimes even accompanying agents until just before delivery," Buch said.

The lawyer added that this is a standard practice aimed at preventing any risks to the life and safety of both prisoners and law enforcement officers.

On February 12, lawyer Frederic Belo told Izvestia that Vinnik was released from prison and his case was closed in the United States

The Russian was detained at the request of the United States in July 2017, when he was vacationing with his family in Greece. U.S. authorities accused Vinnik of laundering between $4 billion and $9 billion through the cryptocurrency exchange BTC-e (now defunct) and of distributing malware for extortion. Extradition has also been requested by Russia and France. In Russia, he is accused of embezzlement of over 600 thousand rubles and fraud worth 750 million rubles.
