Winter sports have many advantages that make them attractive to people of all ages and fitness levels. Andrei Isaev, founder of the DNAOM laboratory, told Izvestia on February 14 about the benefits of physical activity.

First, regular outdoor exercise strengthens the immune system, helping the body resist colds and other infections. In addition, physical activity stimulates the production of endorphins, the joy hormones that elevate mood and help reduce stress levels. This makes winter sports a great way to combat winter moping and depression.

Skiing, snowboarding and figure skating, require good motor coordination and a sense of balance. Regular training will help develop these skills, which will have a positive effect on self-confidence, the expert explained.

According to him, another important benefit is the high intensity of physical activity, which promotes efficient calorie burning. This allows you to maintain a healthy weight and prevent gaining extra pounds. At the same time, regular physical activity reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other chronic conditions.

"Winter sports are not just fun, but a powerful tool for maintaining physical and mental health. But safety should always come first. It is important to take a responsible approach to choosing equipment, learning safety rules and techniques. Remember: health is the most valuable thing we have," Isayev reminded.

Speaking about safe winter sports, he recommended to choose the right equipment. Clothes should be warm, but at the same time light and comfortable, so as not to restrain movements. Thermal underwear will help to keep warm and remove moisture from the body, which will prevent hypothermia. Don't forget that a hat, gloves and scarf will protect you from the cold and wind.

It is important to take precautions. The expert advised to familiarize yourself with the safety rules for your chosen sport and make sure you have all the right equipment. Potentially dangerous areas where falls or collisions are possible should be avoided. It is essential to carry a first aid kit. If you are injured, you should stop exercising immediately and seek medical attention.

Before starting training, the expert advised warming up to prepare the muscles and joints for stress. You should start training gradually, giving your body time to adapt. You should also monitor your condition and take breaks if necessary.

If a person plans to ski or snowboard off-piste, it is worth studying the route in advance and inform someone about your plans. In addition, it is necessary to take a cell phone and a map of the area.

For beginners, the expert strongly recommended that they start lessons under the guidance of an experienced coach or instructor. Attending courses or master classes will help to improve skills and learn more about safety.

One should not forget about nutrition and hydration. You need to drink enough water and stick to a balanced diet - this will provide the body with all the necessary nutrients.

Earlier, on January 8, neurologist, candidate of medical sciences, expert physician of the laboratory "Hemotest" Ekaterina Demyanovskaya said that Nordic walking requires coordinated movements of hands and feet, which helps to develop agility and coordination. As the chest expands more when raising the arms, more oxygen enters the lungs. Blood circulation and metabolism are improved, which strengthens the immune system and reduces the risk of infectious diseases, helps to defeat insomnia and chronic fatigue.
