To avoid the spread of fraud, banking organizations, cellular operators and government agencies will not be able to use foreign messengers when communicating with people. This was announced by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin on February 13.

On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, a package of amendments to the legislation has been prepared, which is aimed at preventing threats of fraud in the field of technology. Mishustin specified that it is planned to implement the measures in the near future.

"Government services, telecom operators, banks will no longer be able to use foreign messengers when dealing with people. This will help to suppress cases when attackers pretend to be employees of such institutions," he said at the government meeting.

In addition, the Prime Minister informed about the introduction of mandatory labeling of calls, so that subscribers know who is trying to contact them. There will also be an opportunity to refuse advertising calls and messages.

According to Mishustin, in order to identify suspicious actions, it is planned to create an information system, on the platform of which will be collected voice recordings of those individuals who use the trust of citizens for selfish purposes.

Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications Sergei Boyarsky reported that the Russian Federation may introduce a ban on receiving SMS messages during a call in order to counter telephone fraud.
