- Russian ambassador says additional checks of the UAV incident in Moldova are important

The incident with the fall of drones in Moldova, which Chisinau accuses Moscow of, requires additional investigation. The Russian ambassador to the republic, Oleg Ozerov, told reporters on February 13.
On this day he was summoned by the Foreign Ministry of the Republic in connection with the fall of allegedly Russian two drones on the territory of Moldova. This was reported by the Telegram-channel of the Moldovan foreign Ministry.
Also on this day, the local police in Telegram-channel reported the discovery of two drones on the territory of the republic. One of them reportedly fell near the village of Ciumai, while the other exploded in a field a few kilometers from the town of Ceadir-Lunga near the border with Ukraine.
"I would caution the Moldovan authorities and the press against hasty conclusions. We are waiting for the results of the investigation. <...> This situation must be dealt with. Accidental incidents, they certainly take place, so this all requires a separate investigation," Ozerov said. His words are quoted by TASS.
The ambassador also did not rule out possible provocations by third countries. He emphasized that Moscow has no intention to aggravate relations with Chisinau.
Earlier, on November 10 last year, the Moldovan police also reported the discovery of two fallen drones. Then Moldovan Foreign Minister Mihai Poshoi said they allegedly belonged to Russia. The Russian Federation rejected Chisinau's accusations due to lack of evidence.
On February 3, 2025, the Moldovan Defense Ministry said that the military had detected a drone that violated the country's airspace. The drone came from the Ukrainian side and followed the route Karmanovo - Mayak - Grigoriopol on the territory of unrecognized Transnistria. After that, the drone left the airspace of the republic, the ministry added.
