Four AFU fighters sentenced to 15 and 16 years for crimes in Kursk region

A court has passed a sentence against servicemen of the 22nd separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) Anton Furdalenko, Sergey Zavatskyy, Vasyl Taran and Ruslan Savvakis for crimes committed in Kursk region in August 2024. This was reported on February 13 in the press service of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia.

"The evidence collected by the Investigative Committee of Russia, recognized by the court sufficient to pass sentence on the soldiers of the 22nd separate mechanized brigade of the armed formations of Ukraine Anton Furdalenko, Sergey Zavatsky, Vasily Taran and Ruslan Savvakis", - stated in the Telegram-channel.

It is established that in August last year the militants of the AF, with weapons and explosive devices in order to commit a terrorist act illegally crossed the Russian border. In Sujansky and Korenevsky districts of Kursk region, they threatened local residents, opened fire on civilians and military personnel of the Russian army.

It is noted that Zavatsky was sentenced by the court to 16 years in prison, Taran, Savvakis and Furdalenko 15. they will serve the first three years in prison, and the rest in a strict regime penal colony.

Earlier, on February 11, the court sentenced two servicemen of the AFU Dmitry Pilyai and Alexander Sereda for committing a terrorist act in Kursk region. While in Korenevsky district, the convicts intimidated and frightened the local population, occupied private houses and opened fire on both Russian military and civilians.

Before that, on January 17, the first deputy chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, Eduard Kaburneev, said that the agency had completed the investigation of more than 50 criminal cases against AFU fighters who committed crimes in the Kursk region, and the defendants would soon be brought to trial. Since 2014, the Investigative Committee has opened 6.5 thousand criminal cases against the Ukrainian military, 500 defendants have been convicted, among whom 61 people have been sentenced to life imprisonment.
