Eight more children will be reunited with their relatives in Ukraine with the assistance of the Russian presidential ombudsman for children's rights, Maria Lvova-Belova, and with the mediation of Qatar. This was reported in the press service of the ombudsman on February 13.

"On the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin, we continue our work to reunite children with their relatives in Russia, Ukraine and other countries. This time, eight children aged five to fifteen are going to relatives in Ukraine," Lvova-Belova said.

She noted that most of the children lived with their grandmothers, but now they are going to their parents. There are still children, over whom guardianship was formalized by close relatives. So with their aunt will be reunited brother and sister, who after the death of mom lived in the institution, and then expressed a desire to go to a relative in Ukraine.

Lvova-Belova also thanked Qatar for mediating communication from the Ukrainian side and for organizing logistics for the children's relocation. In addition, she expressed recognition to the International Committee of the Red Cross, regional children's ombudsmen and representatives of specialized agencies for their assistance in returning the children home.

It is noted that a total of 15 children from 10 families were reunited with loved ones in Russia and 95 children from 75 families were reunited with loved ones in Ukraine, as well as in other countries.

In November last year, Lvova-Belova told about two children returned from Ukraine through the mediation of Qatar. She thanked the state of Qatar, the International Committee of the Red Cross and regional children's ombudspersons for their assistance.

On April 24 of the same year, representatives of Moscow and Kiev in Qatar held face-to-face talks on the return of children to their families for the first time. At the meeting, a list of 29 children to be reunited with relatives in Ukraine and 19 children to be reunited with families in Russia was announced.
