The telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump on February 12 showed that the previous US administration of Joe Biden failed to isolate Moscow on the world stage. Daniil Bessarabov, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on State Construction and Legislation, pointed this out in a conversation with Izvestia.

"The phone conversation that took place also confirmed once again that the past American leadership and its partners from other countries failed to isolate Russia on the world stage. Our president has broken through the wall of stupidity built by Western elites out of their arrogance and various phobias when they tried to isolate Russia and refused the negotiation process," the deputy said.

Bessarabov noted that Trump's team, unlike the administration of his predecessor, "made a sensible decision and started listening to Russia's position on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict."

"Our president has repeatedly stated that by cooperating, Russia and the United States could bring more benefits to the world. Vladimir Putin constantly emphasizes our country's openness to dialog, but at the same time the head of state remains adamant in one thing - he will not compromise the interests of Russia and Russians!" - Bessarabov concluded.

Putin and Trump had a telephone conversation on February 12. They discussed many topics, including the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, the exchange of Russian and U.S. citizens and the situation in the Middle East, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported.
