Almost 10 thousand kg of pears with worms were not allowed into Krasnoyarsk

Another batch of dangerous fruit was found in Krasnoyarsk. 9.5 thousand kg of infected pears arrived in the city from China, the press service of the regional department of Rosselkhoznadzor reported on Thursday, February 13.

During the inspection it turned out that the party has signs of infestation with Comstock worm. This pest is able to infest many types of plants, but prefers fruits.

When fruits are infested with this dangerous insect, they become stiff, their flavor and other marketable qualities deteriorate, and their weight decreases. The worm is considered to be a hard-to-eradicate organism due to its hidden lifestyle and the presence of a waxy cover.

According to KrasnoyarskMedia IA, the entire batch of pears was sent for disinfestation at the owner's choice.
