Crimea commented on the words of the head of the Pentagon about the borders of Ukraine

The words of US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth about the unreality of Ukraine 's return to the 2014 borders are an admission of truth. This was stated by the first Deputy head of the Parliament of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Tsekov on February 13.

"The Pentagon chief publicly recognized the truth. It is gratifying that the Pentagon recognizes that the territories that have been part of Russia since 2014 have been permanently reunited with their historical homeland," the deputy told the RIA Novosti news agency.

He also expressed hope that the administration of the new President of the United States Donald Trump "will abandon its hostile policy" towards Russia.

The day before, the head of the Pentagon said that he called the return of Ukraine to the 2014 borders an unrealistic task. He also added that Washington does not consider Kiev's accession to NATO a realistic outcome of the peace process.

In 2014, the Crimean peninsula became part of Russia following a referendum. In 2022, the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics, as well as the Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions joined Russia after the referendums.
