Analysts have calculated the number of car models on sale in Russia
In 2024, the number of new car models of various brands available for purchase in the Russian market will reach 1.1 thousand units. Sergey Udalov, Executive Director of the analytical agency Avtostat, told about it at the ForAuto 2025 conference, Izvestia correspondent reports on February 13.
The segment of crossovers and SUVs of C-class (SUV C) turned out to be the largest in the volume of sales with the result of 397.8 thousand units. It occupies 25% of the market segment, and its leader is Haval Jolion. There are 135 models in this category on the Russian market.
The second in terms of sales was the B-segment, which has 58 models, and the sales leader is Lada Granta. Sales of cars in this category amounted to 348.2 thousand units, and the segment's market share is 22%.
Then comes the SUV D segment, where 150 models are presented, and the crossover Geely Monjaro is the leader. This category occupies 18% of the market with a result of 286.7 thousand cars sold.
The SUV B segment (model-leader is Chery Tiggo 4 Pro) has the fourth place in sales with the result of 237.7 thousand units and a market share of 15.1%. Last year 71 models were presented on the market in this segment. Five closed the class SUV E with the leading in it Changan UNI-K (109.9 thousand sold cars; 133 models; segment share of the market 7%).
Earlier in the day it was reported that 43.82 million new passenger cars were sold in Russia over the last 30 years. The market leader for three decades with a large gap was the brand Lada. During this period, 14.54 million new cars of this brand were sold in the country.
Also on February 13, it became known that over the past 10 years, the average cost of new cars in Russia has increased more than three times. At the same time, in currency equivalent, the cost of a car has not changed much: in 2013 it was $28.5 thousand, and by 2024 it rose to $33.8 thousand.
