The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are terrorizing the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (ZNPP) while Russia is ensuring the safety of experts from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on February 13.

"The Ukrainian military continues to terrorize both the plant itself and its satellite town Energodar," the ministry said in a publication on its website.

Four IAEA experts are currently present on the territory of the plant. To date, 25 rotations have been conducted, the last one taking place on December 10, 2024.

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman specified that the Russian side is doing everything possible to ensure the safety of both the station and the agency's experts there. She added that due to the proximity of the line of contact, the experts need to observe certain access restrictions in terms of their security.

Zakharova expressed gratitude to the IAEA experts who remain at Zaporizhzhya NPP and contribute to its safety despite threats from the Ukrainian armed forces.

Ukrainian troops disrupted the rotation of IAEA staff at Zaporozhye NPP on February 12, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The governor of Zaporizhzhya Region, Yevhen Balitskyy, described the repeated attacks by the Ukrainian armed forces on the territories nearest to the plant, including Enerhodar, as a provocation.
