Vehicle sales in Russia grew by 40% over the year

According to the results of 2024, the total sales of all types of vehicles in Russia increased by 40% and amounted to 1.83 million units. This was reported by Sergey Tselikov, Director General of Avtostat analytical agency, at the ForAuto 2025 conference, Izvestia correspondent reports on February 13. For comparison: in 2023, this figure amounted to 1.31 million units.

"All segments, except for heavy trucks, showed growth. The passenger car segment is leading with a growth of 48%. Imports of all types of vehicles grew by 23%. At the same time, the number of imported models sold and cars produced in the country are approximately equal," Tselikov said.

The segment of light commercial vehicles for the year in sales grew by 24% (112 thousand units), medium trucks - by 22% (22 thousand units), buses - by 19% (19.5 thousand units). At the same time, the sales volume of heavy trucks decreased by 19% over the year (to 102 thousand units).

By the end of 2024, the production of vehicles amounted to 1 million units, which is 33% more year-on-year. All segments showed growth. The segment of passenger cars is leading with growth of 41% and accounts for 75% of the total volume of transport production in Russia.

Earlier in the day it was reported that the average cost of new cars in Russia has more than tripled over the past 10 years. At the same time, in currency equivalent, the cost of a car has not changed much: in 2013 it was $28.5 thousand, and by 2024 it will grow to $33.8 thousand.
