US President Donald Trump signed an executive order, according to which career diplomats can be fired for disagreement with the foreign policy of the state. The corresponding document was published on February 12 on the website of the White House.

The decree establishes the power of the Secretary of State over the employees of the diplomatic service and civil service officials. He can now make changes to the recruitment mechanism and the procedure for evaluating the performance of diplomats, as well as revise or replace the Foreign Affairs Manual and any other documents governing the Foreign Service.

"Personnel procedures of agencies responsible for implementing the President's foreign policy must provide an effective and efficient means of ensuring that officials and employees implement the President's policies in good faith," the White House press office specified.

It is noted that the decree also confirms Trump's constitutional authority in matters of foreign policy and his authority over all persons involved in its implementation.

Earlier, on February 10, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Trump's return to the White House marks a change in the course of Washington's foreign policy. According to him, the new head of state is changing the liberal-globalist vector to a national-populist one.

On the same day, Li Yong, an employee of the China International Trade Association, noted that Trump's aggressive approach to the country's foreign economic policy could lead the US to isolation on the world stage. He emphasized that Trump's announcement of new duties has already caused worldwide concern, including among the main trading partners of the United States.

Before that, on February 10, former deputy national security adviser to the 44th American President Barack Obama, Ben Rhodes, compared Trump to a "school bully" because of his foreign policy. As he specified, Trump's foreign policy marks a "loss of American self-confidence and self-respect" and presents the U.S. as a "fading superpower clinging to a lost status."
