Msta-S howitzer crews destroyed AFU equipment and manpower in the special operation zone

Msta-S self-propelled howitzers of the North group of troops destroyed armored combat vehicles, self-propelled artillery systems, M777 howitzers, a fuel, lubricants and ammunition depot, as well as personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the Kharkiv area of the special military operation (SMO) while carrying out firing missions. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on February 13.

"Our main task, as artillerymen, is the defeat of the enemy's living forces, counter-battery combat, which is very relevant today, the defeat of military equipment and so on. <...> Several units of military equipment were destroyed, BBMs, self-propelled Caesar, "three sevens" barrel artillery, 2S1 self-propelled vehicles. Of the large large targets was destroyed large large warehouse," - said the commander of the battery with the call sign Umnik.

The agency specified that during the performance of combat tasks, the artillerymen cooperate with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) units, which are engaged in searching for enemy positions and adjusting fire.

The Msta-S howitzers are capable of engaging targets at long range from both open and closed combat positions. The calculations use fragmentation-fugitive and high-precision shells, depending on what task needs to be accomplished.

Earlier, on February 12, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the Msta-S self-propelled howitzer crews of the All-Union Army of the "West" group of forces destroyed an M777 howitzer, a radar station, armored vehicles and live force of AFU fighters in the SSO zone while carrying out firing tasks.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region.
