An army aviation crew on a Mi-28NM helicopter as part of a mixed tactical group has disrupted the rotation of Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) units in the border area of Kursk Region. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on February 13.

The ministry specified that the crew was carrying out a combat mission to support ground units of Russian servicemen. The pilots received precise coordinates of enemy positions and carried out a launch at the given coordinates, destroying armored vehicles and personnel of the AFU.

After that, the crew performed anti-missile maneuvering at low altitude, shot off heat traps to prevent the penetration of portable surface-to-air missile system (MANPADS) shells and returned to a safe place.

Earlier, on February 12, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that a Ka-52M helicopter had performed a mission to support a ground group of troops in the border area of Kursk Region. The crew launched a missile strike against armored vehicles and AFU personnel hidden in a wooded area. According to the intelligence report, the enemy personnel and military equipment were destroyed.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
